After the first two appointments on 25th October and 22nd November 2022, on Tuesday 24th January, the Basilica of St. Peter’s in the Vatican hosted a new Lectio Petri, the third of the four meetings promoted by the Fratelli tutti <\/em>Foundation<\/strong> and the ‘Courtyard of the Gentiles<\/a>‘ to investigate the life and Ministry of the Apostle Peter in theology, history, arts and culture.<\/p>\n

The title chosen for this occasion was “Give account for the Hope that is in Us<\/strong>“: Card. Gianfranco Ravasi<\/strong>, President Emeritus of the Pontifical Council for Culture, commented on some of the most significant passages from the First Epistle of Peter, the Letter of Pliny to Trajan and the Letter of Reply of Trajan to Pliny.<\/p>\n

Prof Giuliano Amato<\/strong>, President of the Courtyard of the Gentiles Foundation, closed the event with a reflection on the theme “Faith and Society”.\u00a0 Card. Mauro Gambetti<\/strong>, Archpriest of the Papal Basilica of St. Peter in the Vatican, opened the event which was enriched by the musical performance of a string quartet playing: the Adagio in G minor by Tomaso Albinoni, the Ave Maria (Intermezzo from ‘Cavalleria Rusticana’) by Pietro Mascagni and the Aria on the IV string from Suite no. 3 BWV 1068 by Johann Sebastian Bach. The readings were read by Tv journalist Paola Saluzzi<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

NEXT APPOINTMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n

The last Lectio Petri, ‘Quo vadis<\/strong>‘, is scheduled for 7th March 2023<\/strong>, at 6.30 p.m. We will analyse the figure of Peter in arts, literature and music with the participation of leading personalities from the world of culture.<\/p>\n

Entry to the Basilica will be from St Peter\u2019s Square, through a corridor on the \u201cBraccio di Costantino\u201d side, from 5.30 p.m. Uniformed staff from the Fabbrica di San Pietro will indicate the route.<\/p>\n
