Born in Rome on 22 July 1960.
Graduated in Economics, in 1983 he joined the Eni group.
From 1983 to 1994 Claudio Granata served as an expert on labour market and social security at ASAP (Trade union association for Eni companies).

From 1994 to 1999 he continued his experience at Eni Corporate as an industrial relations expert.
In the year 2000, he was appointed Head of Personnel and Organisation of Eni Servizi Amministrativi, a company set up to centralise Eni’s administrative activities.
In 2001, he was put in charge of Eni’s territorial poles, structuring personnel management by geographic areas, and in 2003 he took on the role of HR of Business in Corporate, providing Departments with support for the management and development of Eni Corporate’s managerial resources, in a period of great change (2002-2004), which saw mergers by incorporation of Snam and AgipPetroli with the redefinition of the organisational structures of the staff areas.
In the same year, he was also appointed Director of Personnel and Organisation at SOFID (Eni’s financial services company).
In 2006, he became Director of Human Resources of the E&P Division, where he oversees the processes of Human Resources Planning,Management, Development and Compensation, and Organisation activities. He participates with top management in the reorganisation of the Division’s macro-processes, promoting change management initiatives.

Since 2006, he has been a member of the Board of Directors of Eni International Resources Ltd, serving as Chairman from 2012 to 2013.

From 2012 to March 2015, he was a member of the Board of Directors of Eni Uk ltd.
In 2013 he was appointed Executive Vice President of Sustainable Development, Safety, Environment and Quality in E&P, in charge of overseeing safety, environment and quality processes in order to promote integration with operational processes and contribute to improving time to market and efficiency.
Since July 2014, he has been Eni’s Chief Services & Stakeholder Relations Officer and Board Member of Eni Foundation.
Since November 2014 he has been Chairman of the Board of Directors of Eni Corporate University.
Since July 2020 he has been Director Human of Capital & Procurement Coordination at Eni.
