Aula Nuova del Sinodo
A unique table with special protagonists: Pope Francis and children. An opportunity for dialogue in which the Pope asked the children what happiness and peace mean to them, and gave them the space to explore with him the value of the figure of the grandparent. When asked why he created the World Children’s Day, the Pope replied: “The future of humanity is in children and the elderly, because grandparents give us wisdom and children learn from the wisdom of grandparents”. He added: “But there is another thing, I once read a spiritual writer who said that he wanted to be in the arms of God like a child in the arms of its mother. I look at this child: this child is not defending himself; this child is sleeping; this child is safe because he is in its mother’s arms. This is how we must be with God: safe in God’s arms, like a child in its mother’s arms”. At the end, the Holy Father signed the “Declaration on the Fraternity of Children”.
